Now We Have A Name - Please, Do What You Can!

In the outrageous (and sadly, not that unusual it seems) case of Social Services refusing to let the grandparents look after children and instead arranging for two gay men to adopt them, we now have a name.

"Councillor Marilyne MacLaren, convener for education, children and families at Edinburgh City Council, said: ‘I have been assured that the professional view is that
the adoptive couple will provide a safe, secure and loving environment for these children.

‘These are always very complex cases but I think it is important to say that the grandparents have been fully involved in discussions about this case over a period of
time.’"

Now, I shall be trying to find an email address for this woman, and will write to her by snail mail if I can't email her, but as I don't have a vote in the Edinburgh area my letter will be of little concern to her or her colleagues.

If you are in the Edinburgh area, or have friends or relatives there, please ask them to contact their local representative and this woman, and let them know what you think.

This is social engineering, some sick experiment being inflicted on people in this country, and we have to stop it.

Thank You!

Dear Councillor MacLaren

Do you support the adoption as arranged by your social workers as reported in the media?

If so, how are how going to justify that support to your voters?

If not, please have this stopped immediately.

Erm, you do know it's a court that decides who gets custody of a child, right?

She can't/hasn't done a fucking thing either way. Just sayin'

Are you suggesting that officials and a judge from the court go and check up which couples are on the adopting approved list, visit their homes, talk to the parents and grandparents of the children involved? Then decide who would be best placed where? Some how I doubt that is likely.

The court get handed the papers by the solictor for the social service department and rubber stamp them.

Here's another name for your Wall of Shame on this case.

And a picture too. Luckily, it's blurred, or I wouldn't recommend viewing it on a full stomach....

Actually, kind of. They listen to reports from the social workers, the children's Guardian (who is an appointed individual independent of the local authority, whose role is to represent the best interests of the child), medical staff, and obviously the grandparents in this case.

Some how I doubt that is likely.

Well, shit.

I'll declare my interest: Mrs Slug is a Solicitor for social services, and she found your suggestion quite funny.
Have you any idea how fucking hard it is to (permanently) take someone's kid off them? And for good reason, as you'd probably agree.

You think social workers LIKE adoption proceedings? They're a fucking nightmare of admin, paperwork and being torn to shreds in court by the parents'/guardian's/whoever's solicitor or barrister. In fact if they can help it they'd mostly like nothing better then to offload the child onto the next nearest relative, because it's a sight fucking easier.

And why is it, when a parent turns out to be no use, that people always assume that the grandparents are going to be any better? Because they're old and wise by default? Do you think that the Mail would've even bothered with this story if the eventual adopters weren't gay?
I seriously doubt it, I mean I can imagine the headline:
"We did such a great job raising our first kid that she turned into a junkie, and the mean old council won't let us have another go with her kids!"

Oh and 'being old' isn't a good enough criteria on it's own to not get custody -like they're saying- which would lead me to think that there is something we're not being told by the DM, which would make a change. And the courts/council can't give us their take because the case is confidential.

And and one last thing (and this is the main source of my scepticism): I wouldn't trust the social workers Mrs Slug encounters day-by-day to tie their shoes, much less orchestrate some rather elaborate social engineering in favour of 'the Gays'. Adoption panels (the people who interrogate applicants and eventually make a match)are a different animal however, and have some questionable ideas involving race-matching and religion, but that's probably a different discussion.

Hmm, went on a bit there. Sorry about that.
