Justice Should Be Done And Should Be Seen To Be Done

Lord Ahmed after driving for miles whilst sending and receiving a series of texts on his mobile phone ran into another vehicle and killed a man. He was sentenced to 12 weeks.
Phillipa Curtis, 21, from Suffolk, had been using her phone before she hit the back of Victoria McBryde's stationary car at 70mph on the A40 in Oxfordshire.

Curtis was jailed in February for 21 months after being found guilty of causing death by dangerous driving.

Bit of a discrepancy, wouldn't you say?

But hang on, what's this? The fucking authorities have appealed against the 21 month sentence as being too lenient? You couldn't make it up!!!

Surely the key here is the word 'after' in your first sentence. As I understand it Ahmed was not texting at the time of the accident. For some considerable time BEFORE the accident he had been texting. This indicates that there was no causal relationship between his texting and the accident.

In effect he is being sent to prison for 12 weeks for texting at the wheel - very different fom causing death by dangerous driving.

Curtis on the other hand, was texting AT THE TIME of her accident and was therefore charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

Much as I find Ahmed a thoroughly obnoxious character one must be fair Mr. P.

You should get out more and read more widely on the subject.

The Police and CPS were very careful indeed to try and extricate his Lardiness from the Brownstuff and to try and present it in best possible light.

The last recorded as sent text may have been 2 minutes and two miles up the road, but was the fat little cunt composing one which he then cancelled in order to call 999?

If other cars had avoided hitting the Audi how come Lord Grease didn't, unless his attention was elsewhere? I believe Jaguar's have steering wheels and are supposed to handle quite well.

Nowhere have I seen it reported or suggested that Curtis was texting at the time of impact. Please can you point us in the right direction for proof of this assertion?
