Call Me A Cynic, But This Stinks

The Jersey politician who caused a bit of a fuss because of his claims of systematic child abuse and political cover-up is arrested over "data protection infringements".

Fucking right! The establishment closes rank and gets heavy on whistleblower more like.

I've chatted with a few well educated young people from the Islands since this story broke. They all seem to assume that the cosy back-scratching culture that exists will just carry on as usual but hey, that's the way things work there.

Why would he be in custody ? Once charged a suspect would only be kept in custody because
a) He might abscond.
b) He might interfere with a witness
c) He might repeat the crime

As you say Mr. P, it stinks.

Just seen on Teletext that he's been released without charge after a day in custody, "pending further inquiries".

He is now considering legal action against the police.

The whole Haute la Garenne saga smells bad.

First the way Lenny Harper was treated and ridiculed and now this arrest of a high-profile supporter of Harpers.

I was dubstruck at some of the things that were said quite publicly about the investigation, but this just adds to the sense that something isn't quite right in Jersey.

Syvret's blog is at http://stuartsyvret.blogspot.com/

for anyone that wants to hear it straight from the horse's mouth.

It just struck me that the similarities with the treatment Stuart Syvret and Damien Green are striking.

Coincidence? Or the mark of a common source of influence between the two cases?

Certainly they were both doing similar things: leaking information embarrassing to the current ruling elite.
