Haringey Council, A Shower of Labour Shit

Haringey Council's priorities are blindingly clear - keeping in power no matter what the cost. After all, they don't want to lose their place at the trough, and they obviously enjoy the trappings of and the exercise of power, as evidenced by the odious Shoesmith's vendetta against a faith school she thought was a bit too independent.

So I am not that surprised to learn that in the period that their Child Protection Services were failing to protect Baby Peter - and probably many more children supposedly in their care - they spent huge amounts on promoting themselves and letting everyone know what a wonderful job they were doing. £2.2 MILLION - not a paltry sum.

This is the council who also failed Victoria Climbie, and then proceeded to obstruct the enquiry into that atrocity to the extent that only one junior worker bee was sacked (to be re-instated later once the media spotlight had moved on to other matters, so that was OK ).

This is the council whose Leader took until 17th November to apologise for the Baby P tragedy.

This is the council who tried to smear and destroy whistle blower Nevres Kemal with entirely false allegations of child abuse - how disgustingly underhand is that?

This is the council whose Leader and chief executive had a meeting at the behest of local MP Lynne Featherstone to discuss the concerns raised by Nevres Kemal, and did NOTHING that might have save Peter or improved things for other abused children in Haringey.

This is the council where 19 doctors and health workers (supposedly professional people) saw Peter and still they failed to take him into care. Don't tell me they had inadequate evidence, or that there was not the power available to them to do something, as that is patently bollocks, all they lacked was the gumption. A failure of leadership.

This was the council where lead social worker Maria Ward had a case load that was 50% higher than the maximum permitted under its own guidelines, had 24% unfilled vacancies for social worker, but could spend £337,000 on a self promoting monthly magazine.

I could go on - and on, and on - but I think the point is made.

Unfit for purpose.

No need for a Public Enquiry, Nothing to See Here

Fucking hell, just discovered this.

Posted on CiF by "getridofem" in response to Guardian Comment asking for a public enquiry into Iraq War following Lord Bingham finding some backbone.

"Please allow me to (yet again) spell it out. There is now no such thing as a truly independent public inquiry in Britain. The Inquiries Act 2005 sees to that. Under this Act it is a Minister who decides to set up an inquiry; the Minister decided the terms of reference; the Minister appoints the person who will conduct the inquriy; the Minister can stop the inquiry; the Minister gets any report before anyone else and may direct that either all of it or part of it remain unpublished. Even after the report has been issued it is for Ministers to decide whether to accept or reject recommendations.

This odious and non-democractic Act was pushed through in 2005 (just before the general election) under a shabby deal between the Labour Party and the Tories.

In Northern Ireland, certain inquiries which commenced before the Inquiries Act 2005 were later "converted" into inquiries being held under the 2005 Act. [There is a "conversion procedure"].

Peter de Carteret Cory (http://www.scc-csc.gc.ca/court-cour/ju/cory/index-eng.asp), a disitnguished former judge of Canada's supreme court is on record as saying that no self-respecting judge would conduct an inquiry under this legislation.

Here is a link to the odious legislation referred to:
http://www.opsi.gov.uk/acts/acts2005/ukpga_20050012_en_1 "

Well, it'll save over-working poor Lord Hutton for the next whitewash, I suppose.

Consistent? Sensible?

The problem is that the sort of children who are out of control because of a lack of parental discipline or care are not likely to respond to a stiff telling off by plod or anyone else, because of the stupid human rights nonsense and the PC left-wing do-goodery that has given all the rights and none of the responsibilities to the criminals and ne'er-do-wells whilst prosecuting and persecuting those who dare to stand up to them. I could trawl the net and find a dozen examples of the plod and the CPS pursuing these sort of nonsense cases, so could you.

Thanks a fucking bunch, Polly Toynbee and Co.

I'd bet there'd be a very different column in the Guardian if Polly were to be beaten up by scrotes she disturbed helping to re-distribute her riches.

Human Rights My Arse

Somali Pirates have stolen a huge oil tanker and are holding it for ransom, along with numerous other ships and their crews. Private security firms like the infamously trigger-happy Blackwater outfit are jostling to provide protection for shipping - for a fat fee, naturally.

We had Piracy in the past, and it was largely the Royal Navy who stamped it out. Where are they now? Well, with most of their warships mothballed or semi-decommissioned to save money, there's not much available, despite the obvious threat that terrorists might copy the pirates once they realise how a natural gas tanker would be a bomb to make 9/11 look like a firework, so there's one frigate in the Gulf of Aden.

However, they are restricted in what they can do because of the crapheads in Whitehall who are worried about infringing the pirates human rights. The cheese-eating surrender monkeys are signed up to the same legislation, but seem (as with so many laws!) to be taking a different view. The Indians are taking a robust line. Makes you proud to be English. I wish.

Another Government System, Another Disaster

Marvellous, the very system brought in following the Climbie atrocity directly contributes to the death of Peter Connolly.

I'm so looking forward to the run out of the NHS system - especially in the light of the "little local difficulties" that 3 London hospitals currently have. And the death of the pensioner because the locum ignored what she was told in favour of the information on the computer system.

Of course, the ID card system will be fool proof and the data secure, won't it? Ask the BNP if you want any advice on security, encryption, password protection and the like, I'm sure they can help.

Utter Scum

There are things which are completely beyond the pale, and for which there should be simply removal from the gene pool, preferably before the scum have had a chance to breed. This is one such instance. Sadly it is not the first and won't be the last - there was a report a few few months ago about two fully grown swans beaten to death in a park in Stevenage (or somewhere similar). On land they can't take off, so are easy prey if kept from the water. Grips my shit, animal cruelty of any sort, I think even the animals and birds and even fish that I eat should have had a quick and humane end after as good a life as possible.

What will these cunts do for fun next?

Beer Goggles - The Proof?

If proof were wanted about Beer Goggles, you have only to turn to the Shannon Matthews story.

However, that same story also illustrates the disgraceful way that the welfare state has (presumably by accident?) spawned an underclass whose meal ticket is a series of kids by different transient blokes.

And that the "decent ordinary criminals" in Her Majesty's Holiday Camps don't think child abusers should have an easy time. So there's hope for the Barker Brothers yet.

Daft Rules Encourage Huge Broods

For fuck's sake, someone get a grip. The rules as they currently stand that homeless single mothers should be given AT MY EXPENSE a house with as many rooms as they have children is surely complete fuck-wittery? What the fuck is likely to happen?

"Ooooooh, look, little Jaylene Saxonlite, if I have another few bastards we can get a nice big house for free. And more child benefits too!"

Death on the NHS

Sad little tale in the Mail over a pensioner dying from the medicine prescribed by a foreign locum GP who ignored what she was told because there was nothing on the computer system indicating an allergy to penicillin.

I wonder how many more will die as the roll out of the NHS super computer system means that GP's (who are often either locums or in large group practices and so may never have see that patient before) rely on what is in the system rather than what the patient tells them, or on the old fashioned medical notes system that has managed so well for decades?

Especially if their English is not brilliant.

Oh well, makes a change from C Diff or MRSA I suppose.

Alice in Fucking Wonderland

"Yesterday, an international organisation, which receives funding of £25million a year from British taxpayers, demanded increased rights for migrants living here during the economic downturn.

The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development said the Government should try to employ more migrants in the public sector.

It also suggested lower taxes and possible subsidies for lowskilled jobs, which migrant workers often fill.

Martine Durand, from the OECD, said 'immigrants are the most vulnerable in times of economic crisis'.

The OECD added that immigration was unlikely to go down because the situation in migrants' home countries would also be very tough.

Sir Andrew Green, chairman of Migrationwatch UK, said: 'This report is completely irrelevant to Britain which does not have any shortage of workers. On the contrary, unemployment is heading for two million, possibly even three million.

'It is amazing that the OECD should produce such a crass report. They are clearly completely out of touch with the real world.'

Brussels is expected to call for the UK to lift restrictions on the rights of Romanians and Bulgarians to work in freely in this country.

The Home Office has until the end of the year to make a decision on whether to keep the current limit of around 20,000 work permits in place.

Vladimir Spidla, EU commissioner for employment, is to publish a report underlining that every EU worker has the 'fundamental right' to migrate to Britain."

Name Names - who failed Peter Connolly

Clive Preece

Manager at Haringey Social Services who insisted that Peter should not be fostered, but send first to family friend andthence home to be tortured and murdered. Anyone know how much he gets paid to be so callous?

Sharon Shoesmith

Head of Social Services, Child Protection and Education at Haringey. Background is in teaching, not child care. Has singularly failed to apologise, let alone resign.

"Like her New Labour masters, Mrs Shoesmith is obsessed with targets and 'outcomes'.

After Baby P was killed, she blocked a review. 'In the light of the good performance, a full scrutiny review would not be beneficial or add value to the service.' Everything was fine. Oh, apart from the dead baby." (Allison Pearson, Daily Mail)

Gillie Christou

The head of the Child Protection Register, 50, oversaw the decision to send Baby P home. She told the court: “I made the decision based on the material in front of me.”

Dr Jerome Ikwueke

The GP who saw Baby P in the first untroubled months of his life and later spotted the injuries which raised suspicions that he was being abused in December 2006. He referred Baby P to specialists at the Whittington Hospital in north London. However, could he have shouted louder and longer?

Dr Heather Mackinnon

The consultant paediatrician at the Whittington who examined Baby P and was so concerned at his injuries that she contacted Haringey social services. She expressed concern at the suggestion he should be returned to his mother. Failed to keep abreast of the ongoing situation.

Angela Godfrey

The family friend who was given care of Peter Connolly in December 2006 after he was released from hospital. Reputedly paid £320 a week. She pressed for the infant to be returned to his mother. However, no bruises and Peter gained weight while with Angela.

Maria Ward

The social worker appointed to Baby P's case in February 2007. She made 10 visits to the family home, the last occurring four days before his death. She declared herself content with the protection plan for the toddler. Had too many cases, 18 as opposed to Haringey's maximum guidleline of 12. 39, a parent, how did she not notice thedeterioration in Peter? Why did she blank the child minder?

Paulette Thomas

A health visitor who first visited Baby P's home in March 2007. She saw him only four times before his death after his mother cancelled appointments. Thomas reported no problems at his one-year development check. Hardly zealous in doing her job?

Dr Sabah al Zayyat

The paediatrician who was the last doctor to see Baby P alive. She failed to spot his broken back or ribs and claimed he was moving his legs when she examined him two days before his death. She is the only individual who has faced censure for her conduct by being banned from working with children unsupervised. How useless is she?

David Lammy MP

One of 4 government ministers sent warning letter by solicitor acting for Nevres Kemal, whistle blower who Haringey tried to destroy with false allegations of child abuse. Played pass the parcel and did nothing, despite being MP for Haringey area as well as a minister.

Patricia Hewitt

Health Secretary sent warning letter by solicitor acting for Nevres Kemal, whistle blower who Haringey tried to destroy with false allegations of child abuse. Played pass the parcel and did nothing. Claims never saw the letter, which her officials passed to another department.

John Suddaby

Haringey's head of legal services, promoted after the Peter Connolly case. His advice - or that of his team - was that there was not enough evidence to take Peter into care. Dossier seen by trial suggests otherwise, but don't let that spoil your promotion, eh?

Liz Santry

Labour councillor and cabinet member for children and young people at Haringey. Forced to issue an apology eventually. Send email shortly after Peter died urging colleagues to toe the line.

George Meehan

Labour councillor, leader of the council. Busy trying to polish the alibis with secret meetings of just the ruling Labour councillors. Has not apologised. Was also in charge when Victoria Climbie was murdered. So has plenty of experience of whitewashing an atrocity against children on his watch.

Ita O'Donovan

Chief Executive of Haringey - aas present at meeting with George Meehan when local LibDem MP Lynne Featherstone tried to get Nevres Kemal's very real concerns taken seriously. Fuck all happened, surprise, surprise. Another waste of skin.

Rosie Winterton and and Ivan Lewis

Health Ministers sent the warning letter by Kemal Nevres solicitors. Passed it on, didn't follow it up or anything. Worth every penny we pay them!

Juliet Winstanley

Wrote Haringey Council SS a glowing report EVEN AFTER Peter Connolly's death. Wait a blessed moment, did she not spend years working for the Shoesmith woman? No old girls' network then. We can have full confidence in the independence of the government inspectorate, thank goodness, for a momnent there I was worried.

Dame Denise Platt

Chairwoman of the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI), was among those contacted by lawyers representing Nevres Kemal. As chief inspector at the Social Services Inspectorate (SSI) - the forerunner of the CSCI - Dame Denise, 63, was present at Lord Laming's long-running inquiry into the eight-year-old girl's death. Dame Denise was forced to issue an apology to Lord Laming for holding back the release of a key Department of Health document, which criticised her organisation, until after the inquiry had finished cross-examination.Lord Laming was forced to reopen public hearings after belatedly receiving the report because of its "manifestly clear" importance. The report was an internal review carried out in April 2001 which accepted that the organisation had presented an "overly positive picture of Haringey's social services, particularly children's services" in an inspection in November 1999. Sounds rather familiar, doesn't it? But never mind, her pension is safe.

Ed "So Weak" Balls

Secretary of State for Children - not only failed to take action following warning from whistleblower Nevres Kemal which reached his department, has tried to prevent the full report of the initial enquiry from being published.

I may well come back to this later, when I have calmed down a tad.

Public Service My Arse

"This whole affair has a little to do with the individual social workers involved, and a lot to do with the management ethos of the 'public sector'.

After the Climbie murder there was an 'Official Enquiry' This enquiry was deliberately, cynically, and callously undermined by a group of senior managers from Health and Social Services in Haringey, who got together and signed a secret accord under which Health would say nothing bad to the Enquiry about Social Services, and vice-versa.

In any sane country, when this conspiracy was uncovered the people responsible would have been sacked, banned from any further public service employment, prosecuted, and had their pensions withdrawn.

None of them suffered any sanction at all. The finest example, Rose Gibb, later emerged as the CEO of Maidstone and Tunbridge Hospital, over which she presided with such magisterial incompetence ("Patients were left lying in their own excrement for hours..." said an official report) that hundreds of patients contracted, and died of, a filth-borne disease - C-Difficile.

It has been alleged that part of Gibbs' 'solution' to the problem was to tell doctors not to record C-Difficile as cause of death if there was any other attributable cause. As far as I am aware the allegation has never been properly investigated by either officialdom or the media.

Her 'punishment' was to be allowed to grease her way out a side door with several hundred thousand pounds of taxpayers' money in her pocket - a sum that will shortly be further increased once her lawyers have done their job - and set up as a private 'consultant' to the Health Services, in which position she will no doubt be fed further large and regular sums of money by her chums in the sisterhood of feminist public-sector ideologues.

The upper echelons of the laughably-named public services are a mirror image of our parliament and government - stuffed with greedy, dishonest, incompetent, greasy-pole climbing, management psychobabble-spouting, PC box-ticking, careerist apparatchiks who have zero experience of real life in the fields over which they are given charge. Ideology is all, a commitment to the job in hand an irrelevance. Take a look at Sharon Shoesmith and her flowcharts and powerpoint presentations and 'procedures that were followed' and tractor production figures – never having set foot in a dysfunctional abusive household in her career, she encapsulates the whole phenomenon to perfection.

All are inspired by an irrevocable commitment to one simple article of faith: "Incompetence, lies, and dishonesty carry no sanction; failure does not exist as a concept". Even if Shoesmith does 'resign', her pockets will be lined with hundreds of thousands of pounds of taxpayers' money, and she will be allowed to grease her way back in a side door as soon as is indecently possible."

Two real bombshells in there! The evil fuckers.

But how can we change things?

New Lie-bore - Bastards!

Just how much longer do we have to tolerate this 3rd rate shower of shit? I cannot think of a worse government in this country. Right from the start they were full of shit, but the bloody main stream media seemed to be in love with them. I mean, it doesn't take long to think of a few issues where they have been found to be less than fragrant or less than competent.

Ecclestone's Millions

The Referendum That Was Promised (but only in a manifesto, so no legal status)
Sending Our Troops Into Harms Way (without the right kit)

Fuck Me, but I'm Angry

I cannot explain why the terribly sad death of poor Peter Connolly has made me quite so angry. It's not the first case of it's kind, and I am sorry to have to acknowledge that it won't be the last.

But it has the dreadful power to hang there in your mind, ever present, and every horrific fact that emerges about the case just adds to the anger and the sadness. And the feeling of being helpless in the face of such thuggery and such incompetence.

I want every last person guilty of failing Peter to be sacked, possible exception for Sylvia Henry, but from top to bottom of the chain. And include the legal team, and the buck passing ministers, and the useless inspectorate who gave Haringey a glowing report EVEN AFTER Peter's death. Most of all the odious Shoesmith creature, who can't find any grounds for an apology even yet. Replace her with the whistleblower they tried so hard to destroy, she's got guts and backbone and the experience needed.

If I believed in a Hell I'd want them to rot there for eternity. In fact I wish I believed, because then I could also believe in a Heaven where Peter Connolly might be properly looked after and cared for and loved.

I'm also deeply suspicious of the natural father. If he had regular access, how come he didn't notice things were far from right? I mean, an occasional bruise, fair enough, children do fall over, but missing finger tips and fingernails? Anyway, good to know he can afford a solictor to speak for him, isn't it?

And the hand-wringing granny who wishes she'd done more. Why the fuck didn't she?

I hope that the outcry forces a re-trial for murder, and life means life sentences for the scum directly responsible. And that the ordinary decent criminals in Her Majesty's Holiday Camps make their stay a memorable one.

And I hope that the legal teams involved for the defence - paid for out of my taxes, the bastards! - come to recognise how ordinary people will never be able to understand what they did in getting them off the murder rap.

And I wish that I could channel my rage into something constructive.
