Our High Representative Takes Action

"I've placed a ban on the export of rubber bands to Algeria!"

(Baroness) " Catherine Ashton, EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton has said the European Union should consider "restrictive measures" against Libya.

Ashton, speaking this morning ahead of a meeting of EU defence ministers in Hungary later, told reporters the EU would look at travel bans and asset freezes in the next few days. The UN Security Council is meeting later today to discuss the possibility of sanctions.

"For the EU it's time to consider what we call restrictive measures ... to ensure we put as much pressure as possible to try and stop the violence in Libya and see the country move forward," she told reporters.

She said EU defence ministers would discuss how they can best collaborate on the issue.
"I don't think at this point there's any discussion about any sort of military action around Libya," Ashton added. "

Fucking hell, if I was Gaddafi I'd be seriously fucking worried now.

Stupid useless over-paid twat, chosen by the one-eyed bogey muncher.

I'm surprised she hasn't asked Libya to postpone the rebellion until the EU has decided a course of action.

They are planning to form a committee to discuss the possibility of considering potentially extending the ban to all supplies of stationery except carbon paper. If they can get all 47 commissioners to agree, that is.

Ashton is just a placemarker - a sop to Britain and Brown made a serious mistake by nominating such a useless incompetent. Mark my words - the next holder of this position (or just possibly the one after)will be a former French or German foreign minister and we will start to see what was really intended by Berlin, Paris and Brussels in creating this position.

Ah, sanctions on Libya, excellent. How long ago did we lift the old sanctions? How long were they in place? How much pain did they cause the ruling dictator? How much pain did they cause the average Joe?

Where's Foney Toney? I thought he was middle east dictator, er...I mean middle east coordinator, er...middle east peace protector, er...Oh, you know what I mean! Where is he when you need him? I thought he was trying to do good these days, in return for his million pound wage. No?
