Letting off steam. You don't have to like it or agree with it, it is written for my benefit and no one else's. Feel free to add comments if you choose. There will be no moderation. If you choose to post personal attacks, I may well leave them there, so that the bile can fester in the sunshine of my approval, as I regard it from the vantage point of the moral highground.

I love it too :)
As much as one might agree with the sentiment I have to take issue with this image.
The Poppy is a symbol of remembrance and is absolutely APOLITICAL.
It is not to be messed with for making cheap political jokes. In doing so you dishonour those that have fallen in conflict although I accept that was not your intention.
I enjoy reading your blog but I have to say I find this is simply wrong
You probably think Jimmy Carr should be tarred and feathered.
The Armed Forces have been put in harm's way under-funded and under-equipped thanks to this cunt and his cronies lying and sucking George Dubya's rancid cock - hardly a cheap joke, more a bloody expensive one.
No, not at all. I thought Jimmy Carrs joke was funny and did not join the outrage, in fact the joke was more squaddy humour than anything else out there at the minute.
Please do not confuse the two issues
I don't disagree with your comment about under funding either
BUT
As I said, the poppy is an apolitical symbol of remembrance for the fallen and in my eyes, not to be messed with.
I know you meant no disrespect but I still feel the image dishonours the symbol of the poppy and especially at this time, just poor taste.
If you want to do something for the armed forces fair enough but this isn't it and I can assure you they would think the same.
Sorry but there you go.
This won't stop me reading your blog because I enjoy it but this is an issue I feel strongly enough about to comment on.
Unfortunately, sometimes we have to do things which seem less than ethical to get the message across.
We've had good teachers for that in our government. They and their non existent moral compass!
It's not like this government have ever listened to the opinions or wishes of the electorate!
