Mail readership finely balanced thus far but why did Whiner bring up the deaths of PCs Yvonne Fletcher and Sharon Beshenivsky which had fuck all to with demonstraters. To answer the old Hoons question, Yes, I would rather do without the Police Service than have to put up with the way they are behaving these days. Let's hope the IPCC stick to their guns and tell the private company ACPO to fuck off and die.
Winner does good in commemmorating the Police that have died in the line of duty but he shouldn't be hiding behind their deaths to justify what the Police do.
It was the Police and ACPO that stirred up trouble with their stories about a 'summer of rage'. The expectation of violence came from them.
Collective punishment of protester and bystander alike, that results in being detained for hours when they have done nothing wrong (otherwise they would be arrested) is a gross abuse of power. How it is not false imprisonment I don't know.
